America’s first steel shaft manufacturer began 1924. Then it was known as Union Hardware, but by the 1970’s the name had changed to Brunswick Golf, and it was in 1976 that Frequency Matching was developed and patented by Brunswick.

Frequency Matching measures and defines a shaft’s flex through electronic calibration so that the shaft flexes and feels the same with every swing, thus ensuring a perfectly matched set of clubs. The next step in shaft technology came with a concept that has no steps at all – the innovative Rifle design, introduced in 1995.

Rifle’s amazing benefits are possible through a patented internal ‘rifling’ design that transfers energy more efficiently and dramatically reduces vibration, giving golfers a smooth yet solid feel at impact. More new shafts have followed since, and the stable now boasts a range that includes the tour favourite – Rifle Project X.
